A rights group, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, CACOL, Wednesday described the June 12, 1993, election won by Late Chief MKO Abiola as a welcome aberration.

Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran, averred that though the June 12 election remained the only free and fair election ever conducted in the country, it was a proceed of corrupt practices.

Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has lauded  Osun State governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, for his effort at making education accessible to pupils of public secondary schools in the state. The commendation came on the heel of the launch of “Opon Imo”, the computer tablet stored with 53 textbooks, in the Senior Secondary School (SSS) curriculum, past Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) and Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board’s Unified Tertiary Examination (UTME) questions dating back to the last 10 years, e-teaching videos and allied materials distributed free to Senior Secondary School pupils in Osun public schools. Speaking on behalf of the Coalition, its Executive Chairman, Debo Adeniran commended the innovation of the governor and his thoughtfulness at making education accessible to the children of the poor. It is celebration time, once again. Any moment now, especially by Wednesday this week, government houses at the state and federal levels will be agog with revelry of all kinds. Despite a menacing shadow cast on the horizon by the lingering insecurity challenges, the nation deserves to celebrate with fanfare its 14 unbroken years of democracy, the longest stretch of civil rule since independence in 1960. Amaechi: suspended

In what is obviously a fallout of last Friday’s election of chairman of Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, in which Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi defeated the anointed candidate of his party, Jonah Jang of Plateau State, the National Working Committee of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday suspended Amaechi from the party.
