It had been argued by enlightened analysts that the five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors  Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano, Sule Lamido of Jigawa Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger, and Muratala Nyako of Adamawa States who have been traversing the country consulting with eminent Nigerians on how to “save the country’s nascent democracy,” may have been testing the grounds ahead of the 2015 general elections.  Unfolding developments in the land seem to prove those observers right. The governors under the aegis of ‘Save Democracy’ initiative in the last two months, had consulted with former Military Heads of State, Generals Ibrahim Babangida, Abdulsalami Abubakar; former Presidents Shehu Shagari and Olusegun Obasanjo, among other prominent Nigerians. Although the political crises in Rivers State and the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) appear to have subsided, the actions of five Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors- Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano, Sule Lamido of Jigawa Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto, Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu of Niger and Murtala Nyako of Adamawa States who went on solidarity visit to Governor Rotimi Amaechi in the heat of the altercations has not.

The governors under the aegis of ‘Save Democracy’ initiative have been touring some parts of the country in the last few months, consulting with prominent Nigerians on as they put it, ‘the state of the nation’. They had in that instance, met with former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida, who called them “true patriots” for initiating peace moves to end the crisis of confidence in Rivers State and the nation in general. They also interacted with former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar, former President Olusegun Obasanjo and Second Republic President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari among other prominent Nigerians both within and outside political circles. President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is an “outright failure” and should be defeated in the 2015 election, Ganiyat Fawehinmi said in a statement on Wednesday as she assessed the country’s challenges.

“Our present Federal Government led by Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is an outright failure and we pray that by 2015, he will not return,” said Ganiyat, wife of the late Senior Advocate of Nigeria and radical lawyer, Gani Fawehinmi.

Executive Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, Mr. Debo Adeniran, says the performance of Lagos State Governor Babatunde Fashola is overblown.

He said the performance of Fashola’s government did not match the revenue accruing to the state on a monthly basis.

The Executive Chairman, Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL), Comrade  Debo Adeniran, has described the release of Al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan as ‘a case of procedural and tactical failure.’

Adeniran who was reacting to the pronouncement of discharge and acquittal of the duo of Al-Mustapha and Lateef Shofolahan on the charge of the murder of Kudirat Abiola by the Court of Appeal, on Friday, 12th July, 2013, stated that the case, which was subjected to various proceedings was concluded to ‘death by hanging’ as ruled by Justice Mojisola Dada of the Lagos High Court.
