The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has berated some Nigerians and groups for kicking against the convening of the national conference.

Among those who kicked against it are the Conference of Nigerian Political Parties, CNPP, the All Progessives Congress leader, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigeria Labour Congress.

The CNPP has urged the National Assembly to halt the proposed national conference, describing it as a journey to nowhere, while Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu described it as ‘greek gift’ whereas the NLC said it is diversionary and wasteful. CACOL COMMENDS FG OVER SNC COMMITTEE

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s decision to set up a committee on how to organise a national dialogue.

The Presidency, through a statement by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim named Prof Ben Nwabueze, as one of the 13 members of the committee headed by Senator Femi Okurounmu.

CACOL CONDEMNS YOBE KILLING

PRESS RELEASE
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the killing of about 90 students of the School of Agriculture, Guijba in Yobe State by the fundamentalist Islamist sect, Boko Haram.

The Sect members attacked the College of Agriculture situated along the Guijba-Damaturu Road at 12 midnight on Sunday when most of the students were already asleep.

NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS NIGERIA’S MAIN PROBLEM- CACOL

PRESS RELEASE
The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has described the National Assembly as the main problem of the country.

This came on the heel of the resolution of the Senate that the nation’s leadership since the return to full democratic rule, 14 years ago, had taken no serious step to tackle corruption,  unemployment, rot in the education sector, decayed infrastructure and nepotism.

The Senators on Thursday, had unanimously submitted that the nation’s leaders, apart from those who fought for its independence, 53 years ago, had failed to provide the required leadership that could make the country socio-economically independent. CACOL FLAYS POLICE INVASION OF RIVERS STADIUM

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the Rivers State Police for dispersing the newly-elected teachers who gathered  at the Liberation Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, to receive their deployment letters.

CACOL CENSURES LASG OVER UNPAID PENSION AND BRT POOR STATE

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has censured the Lagos State government over the non-payment of the state pensioners’ gratuity and arrears.

This came on the heel of the protest by the pensioners. The placard-carrying pensioners stormed the office of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola around 9am on Monday to protest against their unpaid gratuity and pension arrears and refused to leave despite the Monday rain.

CACOL flays Jonathan’s 600-man delegation to UN Assembly

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the President Goodluck Jonathan’s 600-man delegation to the United Nations General Assembly in the New York.

JONATHAN’S STATEMENT ON CORRUPTION, AN EXPRESSION OF COWARDICE: CACOL

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned in its entirety, the statement credited to President Goodluck Jonathan that Nigerians, through their actions encourage graft.

The President also said both the public and private sectors are involved in corruption but stated that he would not give out their names “so that I won’t be attacked.” Jonathan said this while declaring open the 54th annual conference of the Nigerian Economic Society in Abuja yesterday.

OFFA RERUN: CACOL HAILS PDP CANDIDATE

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has commended the Councillorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Shawo South West ward in Offa Local Government Area of Kwara State, Mr. Afolabi Olawole, for rejecting the victory attributed to him following the recent rerun election held in the local government.

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has censured the ostentatious lifestyle of the federal government.

It was reported that the Chief Executive Officer, Gold and Co., United Kingdom, Amjad Ali, told, The Independent (a United Kingdom newspaper) that his firm was fulfilling an order from the Nigerian government for 53 gold-plated iPhone 5S mobile handsets as part of the memorabilia for Nigeria’s 53rd Independence anniversary on October 1, 2013.
