Yesterday, officials of the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) condemned the poor response of the House of Representatives’ to the leakage of the report indicting Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation, in the illegal purchase of two expensive armoured BMW cars.

The Chairman of the Committee on Aviation Mrs. Nkiruka Onyejeocha, together with other key memebers of the Committee, expressed irritation and disgust over the fact that the media had obtained foreknowledge of the content of the report. The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) today berated the probe panel of the House of Representatives for its poor response to the leakage of its report, which showed it has indicted the Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, in the illegal purchase of two armoured cars.

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) says its position on Governor Fashola’s bad leadership in Lagos State has been vindicated by the statement of the former Lagos State commissioner for Environment, Dr Muiz Banire.

Banire had said the ministry of environment is grossly underfunded while the present LASTMA is not the LASTMA of his dream.  LASTMA was created when Banire was the Commissioner for Transportation in Lagos State.

Reacting to Banire’s statement, the Executive Chairman of CACOL, Comrade Debo Adeniran, said it is clear to all and sundry that Governor Babatunde Fashola regime’s assessment has been over bloated in the media. What is your take on how cases of alleged corruption of political and public office holders are being handled in the country?

The administration of Dr Goodluck Jonathan has failed to address the monumental corruption which is turning into a trade mark of his regime. All the anti-graft agencies in the country have been rendered toothless with less action to back up their talks .There is lack of political will on both sides of the government and the anti-graft agencies to bring corruption perpetrators to book. It is very unfortunate that many scandals that broke out under this regime are yet to be resolved. The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) on Wednesday staged a protest at the Lagos offices of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC) to demand investigation and prosecution of Aviation Minister, Ms Stella Odua, over the alleged purchase of two armoured BMW cars.

What would have been a bloodbath was averted on Wednesday when the Police at the office of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission (ICPC) shot into the air to disperse members of the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders  (CACOL) who had come to submit a petition at the commission’s Ikoyi office in Lagos.

CACOL, led by Debo Adeniran, its Executive Chairman, had gone to the ICPC office to submit a petition demanding the investigation of Stella Oduah, the Minister of Aviation, over the controversial purchase of two bulletproof armoured cars at a possibly over invoiced cost of N225 million.
