Human rights activists and groups have taken turns to berate the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Rotimi Amaechi, for downplaying the looming revolution in Nigeria. They described him as a leader who has lost touch with his people.

Amaechi had last week at the Nigeria Symposium for Young and Emerging Leaders ruled out the possibility of having a revolution in the country.

Students’ Killings condemned by CACOL

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the gruesome murder of four students of Tai Solarin College of Education by some men of the Nigeria Police.

The students were allegedly killed during a protest at the College’s Omu-Ijebu Campus on Tuesday.

CACOL CONDEMNS BUHARI’S APPOINTMENT AS UNN GOVERNING COUNCIL MEMBER

The Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) has condemned the appointment of the former Speaker House of Representatives, Alhaji Salisu Buhari, as a member of the Governing Council of University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

According to a statement issued by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, in Abuja, President Goodluck Jonathan has approved the composition and appointments of the chairmen and members of the governing councils for some federal universities. University of Nigeria, Nsukka, has Prof. Emeka Enejere as the Chairman of Council, while Alhaji Salisu Buhari, Chador  Labar,  Harison Onwu, and Chief Akin Taiwo are members. The Ogun State Government on Thursday said the Labour Party in the state was out of touch with the people of the state regarding the ongoing infrastructural development programme of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration.

The state government described the statement credited to the Labour Party on the on-going infrastructural development in the state as one borne out of ignorance and a demonstration that its leadership was not in tune with the yearnings and aspirations of the people of the state. SNG, CACOL warn govt against removal of fuel subsidy

The  Save Nigeria Group and the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders, have warned the Federal Government against carrying out its plan to remove subsidy on petroleum products, saying such action will elicit a national protest bigger than the January 2012, Occupy Nigeria protest.

The groups said Nigerians were angrier than they were in 2012, and would not tolerate even a one naira increase in fuel pump price.
