Demarcation of Bakassi maritime boundary will fail – Rep

Member representing Calabar-Odukpani Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Ambassador Nkoyo Toyo, says the demarcation of maritime boundary of Bakassi will not work.

Toyo stated this at an interraction on Bakassi organised by Project Nigeria and Citizens’ Advocacy Group in Lagos on Wednesday.

THE Niger Delta Indigenous Movement for Radical Change, NDIMRC has warned all those rooting for the sack of the Petroleum Minister, Mrs. Diezani Alison-Madueke as a result of the oil sector probe to end it now or face unpleasant consequences.

There have been many calls for the Petroleum Minister to voluntary resign or be sacked by the President as a result of the Mallam Nuhu Ribadu-led Task Force report on Oil Revenue.“The call for the removal of the Oil Minister is unacceptable to us and those at the forefront of the campaign should halt it now, she is untouchable; she has brought pride to the people of Niger Delta in particular and the country in general and we will mobilize for her to retain that position till 2020,” the group said in a statement. Encomiums as human rights community celebrates Falana

IT was an encomium galore a fortnight ago in Lagos as human rights community gathered in Lagos to honour one of its own, Femi Falana, who was recently elevated to the rank of the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee (LPPC).At the event, held at the Jade Chinese Restaurant, Isaac John Street, Ikeja, speakers upon speakers extolled the positive virtues of Falana, “which make him stand out as the voice of the voiceless and the fieriest fighter of injustice after the late Chief Gani Fawhemini, his mentor.”Present at the event were Ms Yemisi Ransome-Kuti, Dr. Kola Olaniyan of the Amnesty International, London, Debo Adeniran of Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL), Olanrewaju Suraju and Sulaimon Arigbabu. Okada riders protest restriction on 496 roads

Commercial motorcyclists, popularly called okada riders in Lagos state on Monday thronged out in their thousands and barricaded the road stretch to the state House of Assembly and Government House to protest against the Road Traffic Law of the state

, recently signed into law by the state governor, Babatunde Fashola.

Huhuonline.com understands that the protesters, supported by civil society groups, displayed various placards conveying their grievance against the traffic law, and condemned government insensitivity to their plight.

The protesters, who defied the rains, said they would not relent until they got a specific commitment from the government concerning the Schedule 2 of the law which bans them from 496 roads in the state as well as the highways and all the bridges in the state.
